A strong organizational structure and a culture centered around communication provide EP with a backbone to support its wide array of initiatives. Brown EP is divided into branches, and each branch is responsible for a different aspect of EP's existence.  


SPECIAL EVENTS

Coordinates Brown EP’s largest, annual campus events, including our Speaker Series, SynapseStartup@Brown, and our East Coast Accelerator (ECA)

STARTUP RESOURCES

Helps entrepreneurs and startups at Brown through three stages: inspiring, developing, and launching. Startup Resources talks with every startup at Brown and helps them succeed by connecting them to resources and mentorship. 

COMMUNITY

Fosters a community of innovators through a variety of creative activities, including a weekly gathering of entrepreneurs on campus, Lunch & Learns with visiting entrepreneurs, panel sessions with industry experts, skill workshops and various social events.

OUTREACH

Builds connections and fosters relationships with organizations outside of Brown EP, including startups, employers, VC's, national accelerators, other universities, and like-minded clubs at Brown. Provides a platform for students and their ventures to expand their networks and enter the world outside of Brown.

Enables Brown EP to run its wide-array of activities by overseeing the club’s fiduciary duties.

INNOVATION DOJO

Coordinates Brown EP's Innovation Dojo, a student-led workshop series designed to challenge underclassman at Brown and RISD to think differently about innovation and entrepreneurship through a semester long program of masterclass workshops. Learn more about the Dojo here.

LADY LAUNCHERS

Coordinates Brown EP Lady Launchers, a program that provides colorful collection of events and partnerships – planned for, curated by, and particular to the female perspective – to create a foundation for inspirational dialogue, external mentorship, and entrepreneurial experience.

Charlie Kroll is the cofounder and President of Ellevate Financial, a NYC-based online financial advisory startup. Previously, he was founder and CEO of Andera, a venture-backed provider of customer acquisition solutions in the financial services industry, acquired by Bottomline Technologies (NASDAQ: EPAY) in April 2014. He led all aspects of company growth over 10+ years from dorm room startup to profitable industry leader with over 100 employees, 3 offices, 500 financial institution customers, and $17MM in capital raised from angel, venture, and strategic investors. Kroll is actively involved in the entrepreneurial community, as Chair of the Brown University Entrepreneurship Program, a founding board member of Venture for America, and advisor to a number of startups. He is a previous winner of the SBA New England Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. Kroll has a BA from Brown University ’01.

Heidi Messer is Co-founder and Chairman of Collective[i], the first network using data and technology to provide business users on demand enterprise-wide analyses developed and curated by the world’s leading data scientists. Collective[i] takes essential questions about marketing, sales, service and support data and delivers answers. Prior to Collective[i], Ms. Messer, along with her brother, Stephen Messer, founded, built and managed LinkShare Corporation until its sale in 2005 to Rakuten for $425m. Ms. Messer received her B.A. from Brown University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. She received her juris doctorate form Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude. Ms. Messer is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship, digital marketing, technology and the future of the Internet. She has been cited in various publications including, Inc. Magazine, The Nikkei, Vogue Magazine, Fortune Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily, Chief Executive Magazine and The New York Times. Ms. Messer has also appeared on NBC’s Today Show, Fox News, CNBC’s Power Lunch, CBS Morning News and the Fox Morning Show. Ms. Messer has received several honors including most recently selected as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs by Goldman Sachs in 2012. Ms. Messer serves on advisory boards for Dell Computers, NBC Universal and American Express OPEN. Additionally, she serves on the board of AllianceBernstein.
